It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Greenwood Woodmen can now relate to. Their rough 47-24 defeat to the Trojans on Friday might stick with them for a while. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, Greenwood couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the loss, Greenwood still got an impressive performance from Charlee Mayo, who scored 18 points.
Center Grove got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rachel Wirts out in front who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aubrie Booker, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Greenwood has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Center Grove, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 24-1.
Greenwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Center Grove won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Mooresville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
