The St. Francis de Sales Pioneers posted their closest win since November 22, 2023 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 victory over Montini Catholic. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Francis de Sales also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
St. Francis de Sales was led to victory by Eric Johnson and Jerimiya Sims. Johnson scored 16 points along with two steals, while Sims scored 18 points along with two steals. Sims has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Davione Doty, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
St. Francis de Sales' win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15. As for Montini Catholic, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15.
St. Francis de Sales will head out on the road to square off against Leo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Montini Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Timothy Christian at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th.
