The McLoud Redskins and the Jones Longhorns will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (McLoud is ranked 88th, while Jones is ranked 80th).
After a string of ten wins, McLoud's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to Holdenville. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Even though Jones has not done well against Mount St. Mary recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Jones walked away with a 44-35 victory over Mount St. Mary. The win was familiar territory for Jones who now have three in a row.
McLoud's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Jones, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Everything went McLoud's way against Jones when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as McLoud made off with a 76-56 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for McLoud since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
