It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Milford Tigers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Mount Vernon by a score of 85-78. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Milford got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kielen Tsosie out in front who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tsosie has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Cheney, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Mount Vernon still got an impressive performance from Andrew McMurdie, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 21 rebounds. McMurdie hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Joao De Oliveira, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Mount Vernon were working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milford only racked up ten assists.
Milford is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Mount Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milford will take on Rockwell at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rockwell is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games. As for Mount Vernon, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Telos at 6:00 p.m. Telos comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
