After flying high against Kennedy Catholic last Tuesday, the Mercer Mustangs came back down to earth. Mercer fell just short of Farrell by a score of 65-62. Mercer has not had much luck with Farrell recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Farrell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julius Phillips Jr led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds. Danny Odem III was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Mercer's defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for Farrell, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3.
Mercer will take on Shenango at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Farrell won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Union Area at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Union Area is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
