The Hillcrest Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 93-23 blowout they got on the road against Jefferson. Hillcrest has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 22 points or more this season.
Leading Hillcrest to victory were Clauriannys Berrios and Emma Yurich. Berrios scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Yurich scored 31 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Berrios scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Victoria Hlavaty, who scored five points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Jefferson saw an underclassman step up: Ruby Quirarte scored 12 points along with two steals.
Hillcrest's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Jefferson, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Hillcrest will head out on the road to face off against South Oak Cliff at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Oak Cliff is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Jefferson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Molina at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
