HAMLIN, Texas -
Hamlin (Texas) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat
Cross Plains (Texas), 35-7, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Caymon Georges touchdown pass to
Blaze Thomas in the second quarter, the Pied Pipers were up 14-7 at the half.
Hamlin expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. HHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Tyrone Johnson touchdown run.
With the win the Pied Pipers extended their winning streak to seven games. Hamlin defeated Gorman 60-0 last week.
Cross Plains' only touchdown came on a 39-yard run by
Rylan Laminack in the second quarter.
Hamlin went into the matchup giving up only 16.0 points per game. Cross Plains' seven points were well below their season average of 25.9 per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Cross Plains, which notched a 36-18 victory over Baird in its previous outing.
In a 1A-2 Region II District 7 game next week Hamlin (7-1) takes on Roscoe, and Cross Plains (4-4) will go up against Albany also in a 1A-2 Region II District 7 game.
