Alamo Heights is 7-0 against Lanier since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Alamo Heights Mules will head out on the road to face off against the Lanier Voks at 6:30 p.m. Alamo Heights is coming into the game hot, having won their last 19 games.
On Tuesday, Alamo Heights was able to grind out a solid win over Jefferson, taking the game 50-38. Given Alamo Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Jefferson is ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alamo Heights found their leader in underclassman Alex Elliott, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Elliott has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayes Waddy, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lanier entered their tilt with Jefferson with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Lanier secured a 42-38 W over Jefferson last Tuesday.
Alamo Heights' victory was their 20th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Lanier, their win bumped their record up to 11-15.
Alamo Heights was able to grind out a solid win over Lanier when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 46-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alamo Heights since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
