After a string of nine wins, the Theodore Bobcats's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 30-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Biloxi. While losing is never fun, Theodore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 62nd in Alabama, while the Indians are ranked 13th in Mississippi).
Biloxi found their leader in underclassman Zaniya Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and ten blocks. Johnson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 11 straight games. Amari Merideth was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Theodore's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-12. As for Biloxi, they pushed their record up to 24-4 with that victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Theodore won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Rain is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. Biloxi does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
