The Hobart Brickies fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Lowell Red Devils on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 43-34 to the Red Devils. Hobart's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it five in a row.
Hobart's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cailey Weber, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Weber, who scored four points along with 14 rebounds.
Lowell can attribute much of their success to Bre Kidd, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Elysia Laub, who scored six points along with four blocks and two steals.
Hobart has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Lowell, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hobart will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Merrillville at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Merrillville is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58 points per game. As for Lowell, they will head out on the road to challenge Culver Academies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Culver Academies focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
