Basketball Recap: Wilmington Sets Scoring Season-High Against Clifton Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilmington). They walked away with a 57-47 victory over the Clifton Central Comets on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Leading Wilmington to victory were Nina Egizio and Skylar Rossow. Egizio went 5 for 10 on her way to 10 points and seven steals, while Rossow almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Egizio is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikki Quigley, who posted seven points.

Wilmington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Wilmington's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Clifton Central, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wilmington Wildcats duke it out with the Herscher Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Wilmington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. Clifton Central and Peotone will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
