The Brimfield Indians will take on the Tremont Turks at 4:29 p.m. on Wednesday. Brimfield will be looking to extend their current 19-game winning streak.
Brimfield's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Macomb as they made off with an 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 17 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Sawyer Drury was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Kendyl Binder was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Brooke Allen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Brimfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Macomb only posted a batting average of .000.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tremont, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Athens with a sharp 8-1 victory on Friday. The Turks not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21st (when they won 15-0).
Maddie Feagin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ivy Stuber, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Poisal, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Brimfield pushed their record up to 28-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Tremont, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Tremont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brimfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. It's a different story for Tremont, though, as they've only averaged .351. Will they be able to contain Brimfield's hitters?
Brimfield couldn't quite finish off Tremont when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will the Indians have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
