Boyle County is 9-1 against Garrard County since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Rebels will host the Golden Lions at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Boyle County turned things around against Danville Christian Academy on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Warriors. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rebels' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Meanwhile, while Garrard County put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for McCreary Central. The Golden Lions blew past the Raiders 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Golden Lions, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Emily Hounshell made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Destiny Logan and Braylei Wade did most of the damage at the plate: Logan went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Wade got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Wade a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Murphy, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Garrard County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McCreary Central only posted a batting average of .118.
Garrard County's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-15. As for Boyle County, their win bumped their record up to 10-17.
Boyle County was able to grind out a solid victory over Garrard County in their previous matchup back in April, winning 5-2. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
