On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Springfield beat the Fighting Irish 48-42.
Springfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jameka Brungard led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Brungard has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Mariana Tuscano was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Springfield is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Ursuline, they dropped their record down to 9-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. McDonald will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 667th, while the Tigers are ranked 320th). As for Ursuline, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
