Basketball Recap: Eagle Ridge Academy Takes a Loss

Eagle Ridge Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-63 heartbreaker at the hands of The Academy Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 79-44 back in December of 2024.

Jayden Davis and Samuel Rich certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Davis went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points and six boards, while Rich dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ho'Wesl Spotted Elk, who posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Eagle Ridge Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Trey Boychuk continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for The Academy, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 26 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The Academy is 5-1 when Boychuk posts five or more steals, but 6-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Hernandez, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds.

Eagle Ridge Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for The Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-10.

Eagle Ridge Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 75-31 loss against Colorado Academy on the 27th. As for The Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 59-42 defeat against Middle Park on the 27th.
