Health Sciences Charter is on a 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while East is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Health Sciences Charter Falcons will take on the East Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Health Sciences Charter's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matches.
Health Sciences Charter can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 78-44 win over Hutchinson-Central Tech on the road. Given Health Sciences Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Hutchinson-Central Tech is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Health Sciences Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amir Moye out in front who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Moye is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Whitt, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but East had to settle for a 54-52 defeat against International Prep at Grover on Tuesday.
Despite the defeat, East got a solid performance out of Jussean Pearsall, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Pearsall hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Zander Casillas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Health Sciences Charter's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for East, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Health Sciences Charter hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 67.5 points per game. However, it's not like East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 57.5 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Everything came up roses for Health Sciences Charter against East when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 74-40 win. Will Health Sciences Charter repeat their success, or does East have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
