Baseball Recap: St. Paul Central Wins Going Away Against Como Park

St. Paul Central won the last time they faced Como Park and things went their way on Friday too. The Minutemen were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Minutemen, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Emmett Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Paul Central is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-10 otherwise. Jones was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Billy Vander Aarde, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Cooper Entenman, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

St. Paul Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.

St. Paul Central has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Como Park, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
