Austin is 9-1 against Akins since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Friday. The Austin Maroons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Akins Eagles at 8:00  p.m. Hopefully Austin is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Akins in Texas (Austin is ranked 498th, while Akins is ranked 1103rd).
 Last Tuesday, Austin strolled past Johnson with  points to spare, taking the game  52-38. The  victory was just what Austin needed coming off of a  64-39 defeat in their prior  match.
 It was another big night for  Kemah Shaw, who  scored 27 points along with two  steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points  she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Foley Anderson, who  scored seven points along with seven  rebounds and two  steals.
 Meanwhile, Akins' recent rough patch got a bit rougher  on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a  44-25 bruising from Anderson.
 Austin is  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five contests,  which provided a massive bump to their 14-18 record this season. As for Akins, they dropped their record down to 6-14 with that  loss, which was their third straight  on the road.
 Everything came up roses for Austin against Akins in their previous matchup  back in December of 2023 as the  team secured a  74-25 win. With Austin ahead  37-13 at the half, the  matchup was all but over already.
