Oldenburg Academy had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds 42-40. For the Twisters, this counts as revenge for the 65-59 victory the Thoroughbreds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Oldenburg Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Newport Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oldenburg Academy will head out to square off against Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Newport Central Catholic will take on St. Ursula Academy in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
