Hillsboro walked away with a 60-52 win over Castleberry on Friday. Given Hillsboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Castleberry is ranked 1184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hillsboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tory Brooks led the charge by scoring five points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for Brooks. Darrian Hodge was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
Hillsboro is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Castleberry, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-6.
Hillsboro and Itasca will face off at 7:10 p.m. on December 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Itasca is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.
