The Jersey Village Falcons will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Stratford Spartans at 1:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Jersey Village put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Northbrook 42-0 on the road. The victory was just what Jersey Village needed coming off of a 41-18 loss in their prior match.
Jersey Village's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adam Tran, who threw for 145 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Jones, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Meanwhile, Stratford had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took down Memorial 24-10.
Aaron Deleon was his usual excellent self, throwing for 279 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Luke Rives, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Stratford's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Nicolas Sen and his two sacks.
Jersey Village's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Northbrook and 1-8 Spring Woods (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 13.9% over those games). As for Stratford, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
We should be in store for an exciting game Saturday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Jersey Village has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 424.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Stratford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 378.1 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Jersey Village might still be hurting after the 49-28 loss they got from Stratford in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Jersey Village, Dallas Payne (who rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
