The Hershey Panthers struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hershey took a 44-25 bruising from Grand Island Central Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hershey has scored all season.
Kamryn Butterfield and Emma Hall certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Butterfield scored six points along with four blocks and two steals, while Hall scored seven points along with three steals and two blocks. Hall hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
Hershey struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grand Island Central Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery O'Boyle, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Carolyn Maser was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Hershey and nudges their season record down to 11-8. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hershey will take on Paxton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hershey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Cecilia at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Island Central Catholic is coming into the contest with 13 straight wins at home, meaning St. Cecilia will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
