Jazmine Deswood made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Cheyenne Davis was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kira Begay, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tohatchi). Everything went their way against Zuni on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-3 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Mya Blake was incredible, getting on base in five of her nine plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Logen Benallie was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Navajo Prep pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.3 runs over those games. As for Tohatchi, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Navajo Prep took their victory against Tohatchi in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-4 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
