Fairfield had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Western Brown Broncos by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won four in a row.

Fairfield walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-10, 26-24.

Fairfield was led to victory by Peyton Smith and Mikee Lawson. Smith had 20 digs and seven assists, while Lawson had three digs and three aces. Those three digs gave Lawson a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Fairfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Brown only served seven aces.

Western Brown is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Fairfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Edgewood on the 21st. As for Western Brown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Goshen on the 21st.
