The Broadneck Bruins came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 42-31 victory over Southern. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Broadneck also won the last time the pair played back in February.
It was another big night for Mackenzie Wharton, who scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Ginger Kerdock, who scored five points along with six assists and three steals.
Broadneck's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Broadneck and Maryvale Prep will round out the year against one another at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at. Maryvale Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Broadneck is ranked 50th). Southern's road trip will continue as they head out to face McDonough at 12:30 p.m. on December 27th. Hopefully McDonough focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
