Alvarado is 8-2 against Ferris since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Alvarado Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Ferris Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Alvarado had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 62-38 margin over Life Waxahachie.
Meanwhile, Ferris ended up a good deal behind Kennedale on Friday and lost 86-67. While losing is never fun, Ferris can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 705th, while Kennedale is ranked 72nd).
The losing side was boosted by Josiah Harris, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Airon Wallace, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Ferris was without their leading scorer, Julio Morales, in Friday's contest. With Morales sitting this one out, Roland Gillespie got some extra time on the court (21 vs. his season average of 5.89). Gillespie made the most of the opportunity, scoring four points along with five assists. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Alvarado's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Ferris, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-20.
Alvarado and Ferris were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January, but Alvarado came up empty-handed after a 61-60 loss. Can Alvarado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
