Brady Carpenter made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Devin Kelly was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple. He has become a key player for David Anderson: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Mason Jones was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
David Anderson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Beaver Local didn't have quite enough to beat Crestview on Friday and fell 6-5.
AJ Bowser made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aiden Dray, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
David Anderson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Beaver Local, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's still a better percentage than their 4-15 record this season.
Beaver Local's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: David Anderson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Beaver Local, though, as they've only averaged .320. Will they be able to contain David Anderson's hitters?
David Anderson suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Beaver Local in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
