The Denver West Cowboys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 28 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Rocky Mountain Prep SMART 52-13 on the road. The win was just what Denver West needed coming off of a 51-31 defeat in their prior match.
Jenny Ruano was her usual excellent self, scoring 29 points. Ruano is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shukri Hussein, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Denver West's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.67 points. As for Rocky Mountain Prep SMART, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denver West will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Manual at 11:00 a.m. on January 13th. As for Rocky Mountain Prep SMART, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Regis Groff at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
