The Millbrook Wildcats will challenge the Leesville Road Pride at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Millbrook will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
On Thursday, Millbrook was able to grind out a solid win over Broughton, taking the game 5-2.
Reece Kuhns looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Jack Strom was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Liam Clay, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Leesville Road won against Jordan on Monday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Leesville Road was the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Panther Creek. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Pride this season.
Landon Lewis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lewis was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Leesville Road let Will Matthews and Carter Hepp run wild. Matthews went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Hepp scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That triple was Matthews' first of the season. Ben Fields was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Leesville Road always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Millbrook pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Leesville Road, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Millbrook has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Leesville Road struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Millbrook might still be hurting after the 14-8 defeat they got from Leesville Road in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Millbrook avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
