The Prue Rockets will square off against the Wilson Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Prue barely beat South Coffeyville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rockets never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 10-0 win last Monday. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Lane Traster made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Traster was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on July Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Josh Puma was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Prue always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Wilson made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bray-Doyle on Monday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Donkeys with a sharp 16-7 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.
Like Prue, Wilson also got a great game from a two-way player: Cooper Burkhart. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Burkhart has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Josh Gage was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Gibson, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Prue now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wilson, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Prue suffered a grim 20-7 defeat to Wilson in their previous meeting on March 12th. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
