Basketball Recap: Doral Academy Red Rock Takes a Loss

Doral Academy Red Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 80-52 loss at the hands of the Boulder City Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Eagles are ranked 23rd).

Despite the loss, Doral Academy Red Rock still got an impressive performance from Daiton Williams, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points and five assists. Those 24 points gave Williams a new career-high. Isaiah Jackson was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Williams wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Doral Academy Red Rock was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's a new trend for Doral Academy Red Rock: they were averaging 0 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 6.

Sean Pendleton was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 14 en route to 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals for Boulder City. Pendleton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wright, who posted 15 points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Doral Academy Red Rock's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Boulder City, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Doral Academy Red Rock didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-43 defeat against Pahrump Valley on the 31st. As for Boulder City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 73-66 loss against The Meadows School on the 31st.
