The Hope Academy Trojan Tigers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They strolled past Wildwood with points to spare, taking the game 63-48. Given Hope Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Wildwood is ranked 610th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hope Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dwayne Foreman III led the charge by scoring 14 points along with nine assists and two steals. Foreman III is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Willie Griggs, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Despite the loss, Wildwood saw an underclassman step up: Zayden Garcia scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Terriyon Bryant, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Hope Academy's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Wildwood, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14.
Hope Academy will head out on the road to challenge Four Corners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wildwood, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against North Marion at 7:00 p.m. North Marion is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.6 points per game.
