Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, The North East Grape Pickers couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were outmatched by Oil City on the road and fell 51-14. North East was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Oil City apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.
North East's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jamari Curlett, who gained 95 total yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Ethen Knox, who rushed for 353 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Knox has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonny Hargenrader, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
North East's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Oil City, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
North East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Oil City is on the road again on Friday and play against Sharon at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Sharon is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
