If The Hampton Talbots were feeling good off their 35-7 takedown of the Indiana Little Indians last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hampton was beaten by Mars 42-15 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Hampton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Mars is ranked 69th).
Evan Wright was his usual excellent self, rushing for 287 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Wright's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Hampton's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. As for Mars, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hampton will challenge Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Highlands is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Mars, they will head out on the road to face off against North Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
