AA District 1 recap October 8, 2013
Unicoi County made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,673 from 9,137. The improvement was largely due to a 41-14 victory over Sullivan East last week.
Elizabethton led AA District 1 in scoring this week by notching 50 points on Happy Valley. Caleb Armstrong threw for 81 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 12 yards during the win.
The Fighting Cyclones' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Ethan Thomas contributed 167 yards. Brandon Lynch helped Elizabethton's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 33 yards.
Thomas provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Elizabethton defeated the Warriors. Thomas' favorite target this week was Markus Olds, who caught 4 passes for 92 yards.
