Baseball Recap: Forreston Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Forreston won the last time they faced Winnebago and things went their way on Saturday too. The Cardinals came out on top against the Indians by a score of 9-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Cardinals, who have now won five contests in a row.

Connor Politsch was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Politsch was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Carson Akins was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kendall Erdmann, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Forreston's record is now 8-2. As for Winnebago, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coincidentally, Forreston and Winnebago will both be playing Jefferson the next time they take the field. The Cardinals will host the J-Hawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Indians will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
