If the South Panola Tigers were feeling good off their 62-28 takedown of the Charleston Tigers on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. South Panola took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pontotoc on Thursday. South Panola lost against Pontotoc in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 76-35 score last time.
South Panola's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cameron Griffin, who scored 19 points along with 9 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamorris Walls, who scored 9 points.
South Panola bumped their record down to 2-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Pontotoc, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
South Panola won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cleveland Central at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Cleveland Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Panola in Mississippi (Cleveland Central is ranked 34th, while South Panola is ranked 199th). Pontotoc's road trip will continue as they head out to face New Site at 12:30 p.m. on December 2nd.
