On Thursday, the Columbus Falcons faced the New Albany Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Columbus was the clear victor by a 71-47 margin over New Albany. With Columbus ahead 38-17 at the half, the game was all but over already.
New Albany lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Braden Shettles, who scored 17 points. The matchup was Shettles' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Issac Gilbert, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
New Albany struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for New Albany, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
Columbus will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against New Hope at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. New Hope is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. New Albany is on the road again on Friday and play against Grenada at 5:45 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Grenada has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 541 points over their last eight contests.
