Gilbert hadn't done well against Mountain Pointe recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Pride. The Tigers were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Pride, so the Tigers were just returning the favor.

Kaeli Moreno paced Gilbert's offense, picking up ten kills. Moreno got some help from Chloe Beaudoin and her two assists. Zoe Fincher controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Despite the defeat, Mountain Pointe saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Leena Hernandez had 15 digs and one assist.

Gilbert's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Mountain Pointe, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Gilbert has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Chaparral on the 5th. As for Mountain Pointe, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Canyon del Oro on the 6th.
