The Boothbay Seahawks lost against the Dirigo Cougars back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Boothbay was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to Dirigo. While losing is never fun, Boothbay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Dirigo is ranked 35th).
Despite the loss, Boothbay still got an impressive performance from Finn Harkins, who scored 31 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Boothbay has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Dirigo, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boothbay will square off against Oak Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Oak Hill is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Dirigo, they will head out on the road to challenge Mount Abram at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount Abram will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
