Western hasn't had much luck against Rancho recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Warriors will take on the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Western will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Cimarron-Memorial on Friday. The Warriors blew past the Spartans 10-1.

Edgar Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Western is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Leonel Gonzalez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Western's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Gio Urena, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Western kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Rancho made sure to put some runs up on the board against Desert Pines on Friday. The Rams put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 16-1 win. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
The win got Western back to even at 7-7. As for Rancho, their record now sits at 4-8.
Western might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Rancho in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
