It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Laguna Acoma had no problem doing just that on Friday. They managed a 53-49 victory over the Questa Wildcats. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Brianna Carrillo had a dynamite game for Laguna Acoma, putting up 16 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jazmyne Carrillo, who shot 56% from the field on her way to 12 points.

Laguna Acoma was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.2 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 11.

Questa's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexis Brown, who posted 17 points and six rebounds, and Alyse Lovato, who had six points and eight steals. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Cardenas, who put up ten points and five assists.

Laguna Acoma is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.8 points. This is the second loss in a row for Questa and nudges their season record down to 20-7.

Looking ahead, Laguna Acoma will take on Tatum at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Tatum sitting on ten straight wins and Laguna Acoma on nine. Questa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
