The Saint Jo Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Perrin-Whitt Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Saint Jo will be strutting in after a victory while Perrin-Whitt will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Saint Jo turned things around against Bellevue on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since February 22nd.

Brody Morris made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Saint Jo is 2-1 when Morris allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-11 otherwise. Morris was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Devin Stewart, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mathew Sampson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Perrin-Whitt started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Bryson. They fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Perrin-Whitt saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Travis Welch, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Saint Jo picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-12. As for Perrin-Whitt, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Perrin-Whitt's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Saint Jo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. It's a different story for Perrin-Whitt, though, as they've only averaged .298. Will they be able to contain Saint Jo's hitters?
Saint Jo couldn't quite get it done against Perrin-Whitt in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 8-3. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
