Softball Recap: Crab Orchard Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Crab Orchard had won seven straight at home, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 27-3 to make it eight. They never let the Pope County Pirates get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Trojans have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Drew Besheres made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 games.

In other batting news, Kayden Glover was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Adri Ortega, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Crab Orchard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pope County only managed three hits.

As for Pope County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Crab Orchard: they've now lost eight in a row.

On Pope County's side, Jasmine Coram spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Pope County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Presser, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Crab Orchard has already played their next match (against Gallatin County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Pope County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-1 loss against Massac County on the 13th.
