With a playoff game on the line, the Barr-Reeve Vikings rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-22 win over the Lions. This was payback for Barr-Reeve, who suffered a 34-30 loss the last time these two teams met.
Leading Barr-Reeve to victory were Willow Thompson and Hannah Bledsoe. Thompson scored 15 points along with two steals, while Bledsoe dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Thompson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ava B Carter was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alaina Diamond, who scored six points along with four blocks and two steals.
Barr-Reeve's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Loogootee, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.
Barr-Reeve is on the road again on Friday and plays Springs Valley at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Loogootee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
