Softball Recap: Lafayette Wins High-Profile Game Against Male

Lafayette faced Male in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Generals came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 5-2. For the Generals, this counts as revenge for the 7-3 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Rylan Music made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Music was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Music wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Skylar Davis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Davis has posted since back in March of 2024.

Lafayette's win bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Male, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette will head out to square off against Tates Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Generals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Commodores have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Male, they are taking a road trip to face off against North Oldham at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
