After a string of three wins, The Springstead Eagles''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 22-7 bruising from Haines City. Having soared to a lofty 37 points in the game before, Springstead couldn't push the score so high this time.
The team lost despite holding Haines City to a paltry no rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Springstead's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Michael Rizzuto and his two sacks.
The critical scores for Haines City came from Christopher Charlot, Cash Nealy, and Jamarius Knight.
Springstead's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Haines City, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
