St. Edward's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Reader, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. The matchup was Reader's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Marcos Paez, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Madison's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Sanchez, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Jordan, who scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks.
St. Edward's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Madison, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Edward will take on Winside on Tuesday. Winside is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Madison, they will head out on the road to face off against Plainview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Plainview will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
