Basketball Recap: Andy Mclear's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Center over Marysville

Center lost against Marysville back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Center Cougars took an 86-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marysville Indians. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (63), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

Center's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andy McLear, who posted 30 points. The matchup was McLear's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Tima Makovey was another key player, putting up 20 points and four steals.

It was another big night for Jordan Brooks, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards for Marysville. The dominant performance gave Brooks a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Javeyon Brown, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Center's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-9. As for Marysville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

Center didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-54 defeat against Oakmont on the 14th. Marysville has also already played their next contest, a 65-51 win against Colfax on the 15th.
