The Calhoun Red Devils will head out on the road to take on the Paden City Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Calhoun is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Paden City in West Virginia (Calhoun is ranked 109th, while Paden City is ranked 827th).
Calhoun pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-58 to Braxton County. Calhoun has not had much luck with Braxton County recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Calhoun got a solid performance out of Landon Bennett, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bennett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Jones, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Paden City's six-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 55-47 victory over Wood County Christian. That eight points margin sets a new team best for Paden City this season.
Calhoun has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Paden City, their victory bumped their record up to 1-5.
Calhoun came up short against Paden City when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 43-37. Thankfully for Calhoun, Adri Lila (who scored 17 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
